Will Tumbler work for my knives?

Yes! The Tumbler Rolling Sharpener is designed to sharpen most kitchen and outdoor knives, including stainless steel, carbon steel, and even high-end Japanese blades. However, it’s not suitable for serrated knives or scissors. If you value versatility, ease of use, and sharp results, the Tumbler is perfect for you.

Which angle should I use: 15° or 20°?

The 20º and 15º angle options cover a vast majority of knives.

The 20° angle is the most common, especially for American knives , and provides a sturdy, long-lasting edge, ideal for everyday kitchen tasks and outdoor use. This angle sharpens quickly, keeping your knife ready for tougher jobs.
The 15° angle is designed for precision, offering a finer edge suited to knives like Damascus or high-quality carbon steel, perfect for detailed, delicate cuts.
For additional angle options, we offer the Knife Holder Pro.
Available for Tumbler Pro: To change the angle of your knife more quickly, add the Coarse Diamond Disc.

Tumbler vs others

Tumbler improves on traditional sharpening methods by removing their biggest drawbacks:

Vs. Whetstones: Precise but slow and difficult to master. Tumbler delivers similar accuracy in minutes, no skill required.
Vs. Pull-Through Sharpeners: Fast but aggressive. They can wear down your blade. Tumbler sharpens with a controlled angle, reducing unnecessary damage.
Vs. Professional Services: Effective but inconvenient and costly. Tumbler lets you sharpen at home, anytime, without the wait.
Vs. Honing Rods: Maintain an edge but don’t actually sharpen. Tumbler restores your blade to like-new sharpness.

Which angle should I use: 15° or 20°?

The 20° angle provides a sturdy, long-lasting edge, ideal for everyday kitchen tasks and outdoor use. This angle sharpens quickly, keeping your knife ready for tougher jobs. The 15° angle is designed for precision, offering a finer edge suited to knives like Damascus or high-quality carbon steel, perfect for detailed, delicate cuts. Here’s a quick guide:

20° Angle
(Robust & Durable Edges)

• Western kitchen knives (e.g., chef’s knives, utility knives)
• Everyday stainless steel knives
• Outdoor and survival knives
• Pocket knives
• Hunting knives

15° Angle
(Precision & Fine Edges)

• Japanese kitchen knives (e.g., santoku, nakiri)
• High-quality carbon steel knives
• Damascus steel blades
• Fillet knives
• Specialty or delicate knives needing a sharper, thinner edge

These recommendations are general guidelines; check your knife’s specific manufacturer recommendations when possible.

How is Tumbler different from other sharpeners?

Tumbler offers a unique blend of simplicity, precision, and professional-grade sharpness that outperforms traditional sharpening tools and services:

Versus a Honing Rod
Honing rods help maintain an edge by realigning the blade, but they don’t actually sharpen. Tumbler’s diamond-coated disc provides true sharpening, restoring your knife’s edge to like-new sharpness.

Versus Pull-Through Sharpeners
While pull-through sharpeners are quick, they can strip away excessive material, reducing blade lifespan. Tumbler’s rolling action and magnetic holder provide a controlled, consistent angle, giving you effective sharpening without excess wear.

Versus Whetstones
Whetstones deliver a precise edge but are time-intensive and tricky to master. Tumbler combines the accuracy of a whetstone with the ease of pre-set angles, offering a professional finish in minutes.

Versus Professional Sharpening Services
Professional sharpening can deliver good results, but it requires time and expense—and you’re left without your knives during the service. Tumbler allows you to achieve comparable, pro-grade sharpness at home anytime, with no wait

Is there a warranty or return policy?

Yes! All Tumbler sharpeners come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee and a 30-day money-back promise (extended thru past Christmas). Plus, our sharpeners include a warranty against manufacturing defects, so you can sharpen with confidence knowing you’re fully covered.
